Sonia Cardigan Chart
Sonia Cardigan Chart
This is a colorwork addition to All About Ami’s Uptown Cardigan pattern. You can find the cardigan pattern free here: https://www.allaboutami.com/pattern-the-uptown-cardigan/
The download includes an explanation of how I used the colorwork chart for the back panel and a PDF version of the chart with JPG versions of the chart also available upon request! (I can’t figure out how to upload JPGs to Ravelry!)
I made the chart to accompany my size small cardigan, so it is 203 rows tall and 140 stitches across. This means that for any size, if you stick with the exact measurements of the colorwork chart you will just need to incorporate more main color stitches on either side of the chart and more rows on top and bottom. In this way, it is adaptable for any project/size as long as the pattern calls for more than 165 rows and 127 stitches across. You can also adapt for the XS by removing rows on either side of the chart.
I believe this also means that it can be made in crochet! I have NO idea how colowork works with crochet, but I’d love to hear from someone who knows! The only problem is that the cardigan from Stephanie that is the crochet version of the Uptown Cardigan (The Rosewood Cardigan: https://www.allaboutami.com/pattern-rosewood-cardigan/) for the size small is 121 stitches across. This means the back of the cardigan is slightly less stitches than the colorwork chart. In this case, the chart just needs to be modified by the crocheter to remove the extra stitches.
The back uses all: intarsia, stranded colorwork, and duplicate stitch for colorwork. I would recommend this pattern for medium to advanced knitters.
