This is a gender-neutral, beginner-friendly knitted tee pattern with the front design added using duplicate stitch, intarsia, or an intarsia + stranded colorwork mix. The body is knitted flat in 2 panels without shaping, then seamed and stitches for the sleeves are picked up and added. There are two options for the neck – a roll neck or a slightly more structured neck. The design is either added during the knitting of the front panel or before the two panels are seamed, depending on technique.

This pattern was made in collaboration with The Isabelle Fiber Company, who used natural dyes to make two special kits, one with rainbow minis for the design and one with trans flag minis for the design. You are welcome to use whatever combination of colors you wish for this top – I used the rainbow minis and had an equal number of rows for each color, if you’re looking to follow the sample. If you sub out yarn, the most important thing is to find a DK weight yarn that achieves gauge. The DK weight yarn from Isabelle’s kits was 4 ply, 70% merino/30% mulberry silk. Also remember that for color work it is important for the yarns to be the same weight and fiber content so that the color work runs smoothly.

The tee is knitted without shaping for a nice drape and to be more genderless, so measure from the largest part of your torso if this is not your chest. This pattern was written with 2” of positive ease built in.
With the 2” of ease XS(S, M, L, XL)(1XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL) for a chest circumference of 30(34, 38, 42, 46) (50, 54, 58, 62, 66) inches or 76(86, 96.5, 106.5, 117)(127, 137, 147, 157.5, 167.5) cm
